What makes us different?

This will be a quick post about what makes Signposts Ministries different from some other ministries that already exist.  I think that while we are opening up our ministry to people with different disabilities and their families, we will still be mostly working with children and parents.  I was referred to a really neat site today that helps people deal with chronic illness and chronic pain.  They had a lot of things I would like to see related to this site.  They had forums and devotionals and Bible study materials…  So I asked myself an important question.   What makes this ministry any different from mine?  I think the answer is that while we will be encountering people with chronic pain, it is not our major focus.  I also think that we will be working more with parents and children, although I’m sure a lot of our resources will be able to help adults with health problems.  Some of that will be because parents need to find materials that will help their older teenage/young adult children transition to self care.  And then, of course, we will also be serving parents who may have “children” with special needs, but the children are now adults themselves, although they are still living at home.  These are just a few thoughts I’m throwing out there as I think out loud.  I have a lot to learn from other non profits who have been successful before me, but I also need to know why this ministry is different and how it will fill an unmet need.
