A New Ministry?

This post will christen the new wordpress blog site for Lifestyle Accelerator.   It’s going to be an informal post, and I’m just going to share with you some of my thoughts and plans for the site.   I know what I want this ministry to provide.  That’s not the problem.  The problem is working out the logistics and generating the support (and cash) to carry out some of these goals.  While we do provide information, we are not trying to copy or compete with the Spina Bifida Association.  Our functions are completely different.  You may notice I referred to the site as a “ministry”.  In order to do the things I would like to do, I feel it is in the best interest of Lifestyle Accelerator to embrace its roots in my Christian faith and own up to the motivation behind why we do what we do.  This does not mean we only want to serve “Christian” people with spina bifida.  It does, however, mean that I will not hide the fact that we are choosing to be a “ministry” and also provide support for people’s spiritual needs as part of taking care of the whole person.  Here’s a little summary of the different ways we plan on serving the spina bifida community.  We are going to serve people on these levels:

Connect with other families and individuals through forum, support groups, sports groups, and the SBA

Provide emotional support and resources to families and individuals with sb.  Provide information packets for moms receiving a prenatal diagnosis of sb.

Help provide procedures, services and equipment both nationally and internationally.

Provide information on the latest products and research.  Encourage creating educational opportunities and scholarships for those with sb.

Provide spiritual support through Bible studies, journals, and other Christian resources.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of our goals.  We’re in the beginning stages of planning.  I would love to hear from families as to what they would be interested in seeing happen through the work of Lifestyle Accelerator.
